Juveniles on suslik sites in Slovakia

The repatriation of suslik (Spermophilus citellus) under the LIFE09 NAT/HU/000384 project focusing on conservation of Saker Falcon (Falco cherrug) has started in 2011 in Slovakia. Since then almost 500 suslik individuals were transported from donor sites to two repatriation sites in two project SPAs, SKCHVU016 Záhorské Pomoravie and SKCHVU017 Muránska planina. This year juveniles were recorded on SKCHVU016 for the first time. This means the reproduction was successful as well as the reintroduction. We hope the population will grow and a stabile colony will be established on both sites.
